POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPY0L6LBTTA

What are possessive adjectives?

Possessive adjectives - my, your, his, her, its, our, your, their - modify the noun following it in order to show possession.
Examples:
  • I'll get my bag.
  • Is this your luggage?
Possessive adjectives are often confused with possessive pronouns.
Examples:
  • Your bike is blue. (your is an adjective which modifies bike)
  • Mine is yellow. (mine is a pronoun which functions as the subject of the verb is)

Examples
Possessive adjectives are used to show ownership.

my book

your pen
There are five possessive adjectives.
mi
tu
su
nuestro
vuestro
Three possessive adjectives (mi, tu, su) have only two forms, singular and plural.
mi
mis
tu
tus
su
sus
Possessive adjectives agree with the nouns they modify. That is, they agree with the thing possessed, not the possessor.

my book

your pen

your pens
Mi, tu and su do not have masculine and feminine forms. They stay the same, regardless of the gender of the nouns they modify.
mi amigo
mi amiga
tus hermanos
tus hermanas
su libro
sus plumas
Mi means “my” ; tu means “your.”

My house is your house.
Su, like tu, can mean “your.” The difference between your (tu) and your (su) lies in the degree of formality the speaker wishes to convey.

(speaking to someone you would address as “tú”)
.
(speaking to someone you would address as “usted”)
Note: The two words “tu” and “tú” are pronounced the same. Tú (with the written accent) is the subject pronoun meaning “you” (informal). Tu (without the written accent) is the possessive adjective meaning “your” (informal).
Su has four meanings: his, her, their and your (formal).

María is looking for her sister.
.
Juan is looking for his sister.
.
They are looking for their sister.

Your mother is looking for your sister.
If the meaning of su is not clear from the context of the sentence, a prepositional phrase is used in place of su.

María looks for his sister.

The man looks for her keys.

María looks for Juan’s notebook.

The man looks for Samanta’s keys.
Two possessive adjectives (nuestro and vuestro) have four forms.
nuestro
nuestra
nuestros
nuestras
vuestro
vuestra
vuestros
vuestras
Nuestro means “our.”

our brother

our sister

our brothers

our sisters
Vuestro means “your” (familiar, plural). Like vosotros, vuestro is primarily used in Spain.

PRONOMBRES REFLEXIVOS

   Pronombres reflexivos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV_qN5XQI7w
In language, a reflexive pronoun, sometimes simply called a reflexive, is a pronoun that is preceded or followed by the noun, adjective, adverb or pronoun to which it refers (its antecedent) within the same clause.
In the English language specifically, a reflexive pronoun will end in ‑self or ‑selves, and refer to a previously named noun or pronoun (myselfyourselfourselves, etc.). Intensive pronouns, used for emphasis, take the same form.

In generative grammar, a reflexive pronoun is an anaphor that must be bound by its antecedent (see binding). In a general sense, it is a noun phrase that obligatorily gets its meaning from another noun phrase in the sentence.[1] Different languages have different binding domains for reflexive pronouns, according to their structure.
    • I — myself
    • you — yourself/yourselves
    • he — himself
    • she — herself
    • one — oneself
    • it — itself
    • we — ourselves
    • they — themselves                            https://www.gingersoftware.com/content/grammar-rules/reflexive-pronouns/
